Dr. Schultze grew up in the Grandville-Jenison area. He attended Calvin College and subsequently the University of Houston where he received a Bachelor of Science degree and a Doctor of Optometry degree. After graduation he returned to the West Michigan area and practiced in Manistee and Carson City before opening a new practice in Jenison. In 1982 the practice moved into its current facility at 597 Baldwin Street.

Dr. Schultze has held numerous positions in the West Michigan Optometric Association and the Michigan Optometric Association. He is a past recipient of the Michigan Optometric Keyperson Award. He also was honored with the Associations Legislative Achievement Award for his efforst to help secure legislation that enables a patients' insurance to cover their medical eyecare needs.

In the era of anonymous "big box" business, Dr. Schultze has always recognized the value of having a family eye doctor whom his patients can trust and rely. He is proud to have provided this kind of care to his patients in the greater Jenison area for over thirty years. With the addition of Dr. Smith to the practice, who also mirrors those same values, he looks forward to providing family eyecare to the greater Jenison area for years to come.

Allen R. Smith, OD

Dr. Smith received his BA in Visual Science from Ferris State University and his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Michigan College of Optometry. Upon his completion of his degrees, he entered the US Navy and soon became recognized for his clinical skills and his love for patients. He was later appointed to be the Clinical Director of Externs, overseeing the clinical training of several student externs from two separate colleges of optometry. For his excellence in clinical performance and leadership accomplishments, he was also awarded the Navy’s prestigious Commendation Medal. After being honorably released from the Navy, Dr. Smith has set his sights on private practice. He has joined Lifetime Eyecare in June of 2005 and is excited to be working with Dr. Schultze as well as our great staff!

Dr. Smith comes to the practice with a strong desire to continue providing the very best in eye care to each and every patient. Areas of special interest for him include pediatric examinations, dry eye therapies, glaucoma treatments, and bifocal contact lens fittings.

His committment to ensure access to eyecare for all children is evident through his participation in the Infantsee program, offering free eye examinations to all children under one year of age. His professional affiliations include memberships in the American Optometric Association, Michigan Optometric Association and is actively serving on the West-Michigan Optometric Association Board.

Sue - CPO Receptionist/Medical Assistant

Sue has joined the Lifetime Eyecare staff in August of 2005. She has years of experience in the field of eyecare and has become a real asset to the practice. She is our receptionist and front desk team leader who excels in multi-tasking.

Some of her primary responsibilities include, welcoming patients to the office, answering the phone/triaging incoming calls, scheduling appointments as well as assisting the doctors throughout the examination utilizing cutting edge technologies. Call Sue for an appointment today.

Sara - CPO Medical Assistant

Sara has been playing an integral role in our patient's experience here at Lifetime Eyecare since August of 2004. In addition to her warm smile and friendly demeanor, her excellence in assisting our doctors in doing preliminary testing , performing advanced imaging procedures, as well as assisting chairside throughout the entire examination make her a true find to our practice. It is Sara who also schedules and coordinates any surgical care required by our patients, such as Lasik, cataract, glaucoma, macular degeneration and many others. She will be your personal liason through the whole surgical experience. We are confident that you will enjoy her as much as we do.

NaQuetta - ABOC Optician

NaQuetta joined our practice in November of 2006. She brings with her over eight years of optical and managerial expertise in the eyecare industry. Her knowlege and understanding of the latest optical products and materials, coupled with her dynamic personality and sense of fashion make her a premier fashion forward Frame and Lens Specialist.

Her resposibilities in addition to frame and lens stylings include: frame adjusments, lab operations, and contact lens orders, to name a few. It is NaQuetta's attention to detail and genuine concern for each patient that make every interaction with her a memorable one. Betsy - Optician/Medical Assistant

Betsy was warmly welcomed to Lifetime Eyecare over 5 years ago. She continiually proves herself as an outstanding Frame and Lens Specialist. Her keen emphasis on "lifestyle dispensing" and over 28 years in the optical industry give her a special flare for matching style, color, and function with every patient's visual demands. In addition to her contributions in the dispensary, Betsy is also trained to assist our doctors by performing specialized glaucoma and neurological testing. It is her genuine interest in each patient as well as her high level of professionalism that make her a true "gem." We encourage you to come in and see why we have her with us!

Jill is our newest addition to the Lifetime Eyecare team. She joined the office in December of 2008 and comes to the office with years of experience in patient care.

As our receptionist, she will be one of the warm voices you'll hear when contacting our office. It is her genuine concern for people which endears many of our patients to her.
